Drug-Related Crime in Montana

During 2004, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported making 88 arrests for drug violations in Montana. During 2004, there were 1,532 drug offenses charges against juveniles in Montana, and the multi-jurisdictional drug task forces (MJDTF) made 1,028 total drug arrests. There were 664 arrests for drug abuse violations in Montana during 2003. This is down from 2002, when there were 725 such arrests. During 2001, there were 442 drug violation arrests. Overcrowding in prison systems is largely due to drug-related crime, but most drug users in Montana should have the opportunity to enter a drug rehab center.
